Read the rest of this articleWhy Tainted Green? Literally, green is only a color. But in typical human fashion we've pumped a cacophony of additional meanings and symbolism into the word. Green has become a marketing tool used by companies with impunity to wrap their products in a balmy haze of "ethical" and "conscientious" approval.
That's where Tainted Green steps in. We are seekers of truth, and we support the fundamental drivers behind the green movement. Ideas like permaculture, renewable energy, and recycling make sense, but companies that express support for green without a wholesome process behind it have tainted the meaning of green. And so, our focus is to create green content that pushes the ideology forward while pointing out which parts look like this year's marketing baggage. Welcome to Tainted Green, where we focus on unearthing the truth about green.
The Team
Matt Jansen
Founder
matt@taintedgreen.com
Matt spends a lot of time on the web connecting with people and is always hunting for green news and topics that add value and create conversation. With a BA in Marketing and Information Systems from Grand Valley State University in Michigan, he pays the bills by blending business drivers with technology solutions built on a foundation of sustainability.
Caleb Delnay
Director, IT
caleb@taintedgreen.com
Caleb is the site architect for Tainted Green. He is responsible for maintaining the site's software and developing new features. Although he holds an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Network Systems, his true calling is that of a web developer. As a programmer who doubles as a system administrator, he finds his skills overlap often to produce the most effective solutions.
When not tinkering with Drupal, he enjoys soaking up science on the Discovery and History channels, building sentries in Team Fortress 2, and over analyzing any and all situations.
Ryan Roff
Director, Creative
ryan@taintedgreen.com
Ryan is the creative designer for Tainted Green as well as a contributing writer. Ryan created many of the artistic elements on the site including the banner, tree, and other spatial elements.
He is a young guy trying to figure out how the world works and how the people that make up the world impact it. Ryan continually considers himself a student, actively pursuing knowledge, because he believes there is always another story to be told. For that reason, he seeks open communication with people to understand passions and experiences that enhance his overall view of the world. Tainted Green is an opportunity for him to explore many avenues of the world's truths.
Kathryn Robbins
Writer
kathryn@taintedgreen.com
Kathryn is responsible for getting the word out about Tainted Green. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University with dual degrees in Political Science and Communications. She is the very definition of a newsjunkie, especially when it comes to the intersection of international politics and the green movement. Kathryn enjoys indulging her inner Anglophile and her love of analog photography in her off time.
Matt Marusiak
Writer
mattm@taintedgreen.com
Matt is a contributing writer for Tainted Green. He has the mind of an engineer but the soul of a poet. After designing chemical plants for 15 years, he now plans recreation and conservation projects such as greenways to help communities revitalize. He has BS degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering, and loves to explore the interface where technology and nature meet.
Vlado Milosevic
Writer
vlado@taintedgreen.com
Vladimir is a contributing writer for Tainted Green. Formally educated to be a power engineer, experience- educated to consult any company dealing with EV infrastructure and kamikaze-educated to never trust anyone, especially humans. He believes blogs like Tainted Green are obligatory filters that serve the public’s best interests in this case by objectively reporting on the “Green” trend, separating the genuine from the sham. In the words of Abraham Lincoln: “Half a truth is often a lie”.
Jason Steele
Writer
jason@taintedgreen.com
Jason is a contributing writer for Tainted Green. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a major in History and minors in both Political Science and Philosophy. Naturally, his education led directly to his subsequent work in the fields of information technology, aviation, and blogging.
His interest in environmental issues began when he took a graduate level seminar in energy policy. More recently, he served as his own general contractor when he retrofitted his1937 house for maximum energy efficiency. When he is not voraciously surfing the net, researching new articles, or writing them, Jason enjoys both cycling and recycling near his home in Denver, Colorado. When not on the bike, you can find Jason participating in snowboarding, parenting, and other extreme sports.
