LED TVs are quickly gaining recognition and becoming hot commodities in a TV market that hasn't seen much change since the advent of slim plasma and LCD TVs. With improved picture quality and the addition of 3D to some models, LED TVs, with the backing of several major manufacturers, are now ready for the mainstream market.
So why are LED TVs ready for the mainstream market now?
A couple of factors. One, multiple manufacturers are now competing in the same LED TV and 3D market. As early statistics indicated, Samsung, completely controlled the market. In early June, Samsung sold 270,000 of the 300,000 total 3D TVs sold worldwide, controlling more than 90% of the market. Not to mention, at one point in 2009, Samsung controlled 94.8% of US LED TV market.
Since that time, however, other manufacturers have made their presence known with comparable LED TV models. LG offers a full line of LED TVs under the Infinia label, Sony is launching the LED Bravia line, and Vizio has the XVT-Series. More competition is grabbing on to the energy efficient LED TVs, making quite the conglomeration of choices.
Another factor is price. With more TVs developed by more manufacturers, the price of LED TVs is sure to come down with the wave of extra competition and extra supply.
Fortunately for consumers, that is exactly what has happened and now it is the job of big box retailers and online stores to price the product competitively, while TV manufacturers look to produce higher quantities at a lower cost.
Two of the more well known online superstores are now going head-to-head in the LED TV pricing battle. Both Buy.com and Amazon have used the leverage they have as online megastores to lower prices and advertise the basic LED TVs and 3D LED TVs.
So who has the best prices?
Of the 4 Samsung LED TV products that Buy.com advertised today as "Limited-Time Price Drops," each has a slightly lower price at Amazon where you have to go to the checkout just to see the price.
Here is how the sales stack up:
Samsung UN46C6300 - 46" Widescreen 1080p LED HDTV
buy.com = $1,429.99
Amazon = $1,369.98
Samsung UN46C6500 - 46" Widescreen 1080p LED HDTV
buy.com = $1,689.99
Amazon = $1,599.98
Samsung UN46C7000 46" Widescreen 1080p LED 3D-Ready HDTV -
buy.com = $2,139.97
Amazon = $1,849.98
Samsung LN40C650 - 40" Widescreen 1080p LCD HDTV - 120Hz - LN40C650L1F
buy.com = $899.97
Amazon = $821.23
Amazon continues to offer some of the best prices on the market for LED and 3D LED TVs. When it comes to buying a TV, its hard to argue with Amazon's low ball pricing and free shipping.
Why Tainted Green? Literally, green is only a color. But in typical human fashion we've pumped a cacophony of additional meanings and symbolism into the word. Green has become a marketing tool used by companies with impunity to wrap their products in a balmy haze of "ethical" and "conscientious" approval.
That's where Tainted Green steps in. We are seekers of truth, and we support the fundamental drivers behind the green movement. Ideas like permaculture, renewable energy, and recycling make sense, but companies that express support for green without a wholesome process behind it have tainted the meaning of green. And so, our focus is to create green content that pushes the ideology forward while pointing out which parts look like this year's marketing baggage. Welcome to Tainted Green, where we focus on unearthing the truth about green.

As usual Amazon is always amazing, it's makes me wonder what Amazon makes by trading off at such low prices but it is definitely one first and last place I'd go shopping. And this December too the Amazon fair have some TV and home theater offers for everyone, it's offering value on cash back deals, VAT back schemes, free blu-ray offers and 3D packages and TV bundles.
